Mobility is a key factor in ensuring the future viability of regions. Rail plays a major role in this.

New technologies are being deployed to strengthen the rail sector in both passenger and freight transport. The RailCampus OWL in Minden serves as a Germany-wide network for future-oriented projects – as a centre for research, development and testing, and as a campus for undergraduate and postgraduate study. Rail transport offers particularly great potential for automation, for example in the equipment, maintenance, loading and unloading of freight trains or in passenger transport. We develop, design and test.

We are students, businesses, universities, the city and the district – and we are making the most of the opportunities here in Minden. If you can imagine the future, you can shape it.

Our projects

It is important to further strengthen and expand rail transport in Germany and Europe as a key component of sustainable and effective mobility.

In rural areas in particular, there are many opportunities for rail-based mobility to reinvent itself as a reliable transport alternative. To achieve this, society needs creative ideas and impetus that are supported by policymakers and developed jointly by research institutions and industry.
